Olympus E-1
$850.00
Released January, 2010
The Pros:Very rugged design, can take quite a few hits and function as normal. Pictures come in sharp and with great color. Easy to use, intuitive interface that can be just picked up and used.
The Cons:Weighs much more than typical cameras in its class. Only processes at 5 megapixels, which is a little out of date. Autofocus is very poor in low light.
The E-1 uses a high-performance full-frame CCD. The advantage of full-frame transfer type CCDs is that in comparison to the interline CCDs used in most consumer-use digital cameras, the active pixel area of each photodiode in the sensor is much larger, allowing a greater range of image data to be captured.
